Paul Joseph Ryder, of Weymouth, formerly of Quincy and Belmont, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who departed this life peacefully on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at the age of 79, surrounded by his loving family at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth.
Paul was a man of strength and firm resolve, a combination that shaped a life rooted in hard work, loyalty, and deep love for his family.
Paul was raised in Quincy, Massachusetts and was a United States Coast Guard Veteran. During his four years of service, Paul was stationed at Southeast Lighthouse on Block Island in Rhode Island. Following his time in the Coast Guard, he served his community for over 35 years as a Weymouth Firefighter.
Paul found his greatest happiness in the company of those he loved. He shared a meaningful and loving life with his beautiful late wife Joanne L. (Peckham) Ryder. Together, they built a warm and welcoming home where family always came first. Paul was the proud father to Christine L. Spano and her husband Thomas, Michelle A. Ryder, and Paul Ryder Jr. He was the beloved grandfather of Alyssa, Amanda and her husband Sean, Brett and his fiancée Krysta, Sophia, Brian, and great grandfather to Ryder.
Paul had a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life. He treasured every moment with his five grandchildren. Whether teaching them how to ride a bike or taking long walks around the block. Paul loved spending his day with a hot cup of coffee watching old western shows with his family. Above all, Paul found his truest joy at his beloved property in Deerfield, New Hampshire, where he spent most of his time with his wife, kids and grandkids. Their days were filled with laughter, telling scary stories, and apple picking.
Paul J. Ryder's legacy is one of strength and unwavering love for his family. His presence will be missed beyond words but remembered in every bike ride, every cowboy tale, and every peaceful walk. He is now reunited with his beloved Joanne, may they rest together in peace.
The family asks that you honor Paul’s memory by taking a walk with someone you love—or enjoying a nice hot cup of coffee.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, from 10 AM-12 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte. 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital).
