Ray Nicholas Cross, a lifelong resident of Quincy, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Thursday, January8, 2026. He was 79.

He was born to Marguerite (DiLoreto) and Edison Cross in Quincy. Not long after graduating from Quincy High School, he enlisted in the United States Naval Reserves. After serving he earned his bachelor’s at Northeastern University and his master’s at Lesley College.

Ray was a devoted family man whose life was marked by service, hard work, and quiet strength. He went on to build a distinguished career as an electrical engineer at Raytheon, where he worked for more than 30 years. Passionate about learning and mentoring others, Ray also spent a decade teaching at Bay State School of Technology, generously sharing his knowledge and encouraging the next generation of engineers.

Staying active was a lifelong priority for Ray. From his 50s well into his 70s, he was a competitive power lifter, earning numerous trophies and medals through discipline and determination. In his spare time, he could often be found in his home gym, working on his model train set, or, most importantly, spending time with his beloved grandchildren. Ray will be remembered as kind, generous, and a great storyteller whose warmth, integrity, and love for his family were at the center of everything he did.

Beloved husband of 57 years to Susan (Collins) Cross of Quincy. Devoted father to Kelly Cross Gamble of Quincy, the late Kevin Cross, and Keith Cross and his wife Mary of Quincy. Adoring Papa to Daniel Jr. and Jenna Gamble, Joseph, Grace, Thomas, and Emma Cross. Loving brother to Ronnie Cross and his wife Marsha of Quincy. Also survived by many cousins, friends and extended family.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 4-7 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY.
