Raymond Russell Chase, known as “Moose,” a lifelong resident of Hull, passed away on August 31, 2025, after a brief illness. He was 88 years old.
Born on February 22, 1937, Moose grew up in Hull and never strayed far from the town he loved. He graduated from Archbishop Williams High School and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Business from Boston College. His knowledge and love for business began right after graduation where he worked at Friendly’s. He then brought this passion locally, managing Jake’s Seafood for his family, which then led to his greatest business venture of all, Schooner’s Restaurant.
Moose and his beloved wife Jacqui opened Schooners in 1990. Schooners quickly became more than a restaurant , it became a well loved Hull establishment. Known by all and loved by many, Schooners was a place where generations gathered, memories were made, and Moose’s steady presence could always be felt.
Outside of the restaurant, Moose enjoyed life’s simple pleasures: trips to the casino, cheering on the Boston Red Sox, a good lobster dinner (where no meat ever went to waste), and relaxing with a game of solitaire or cribbage. He loved cruising around town in his Cadillac or sitting peacefully on his front porch, the very same porch he sat on as a boy then watched his daughters and grandkids grow up on.
Though a quiet gentleman by nature, Moose had a gift for storytelling and a great sense of humor. He was especially proud of his two daughters, Katelyn and Jacqulyn and found his greatest joy in watching his family grow and becoming a grandfather. Moose also played a special role in the lives of his nieces and nephews, always showing up, always dependable, and always someone to look up to.
He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, loyalty, and strength and a community that was better for having known him.
Moose will be remembered as a proud, hardworking, and honest man. His legacy lives on in the warmth of Schooners, in the stories shared across tables there, and in the hearts of all who knew him.
Beloved husband to Jacqueline Chase (Rust). Cherished father to Katelyn Chase and her wife Kelley Chase, Jacqulyn Greenleaf and her husband John Thomas Greenleaf. Proud “Grumpa” to Quinn, Sonny, Maddox, Delia and Bennett, who will dearly miss the ways he use to sneak cookies to them.He is predeceased in life by his brothers Joe, John, Leo and Bob. Raymond also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, in laws and friends.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Thursday 9/4/2025 from 3-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A - Bicknell Square).
