Obituary

Listen to Obituary

Richard Burns was a man who truly enjoyed life. A longtime resident of Weymouth, Richard had a remarkable ability to know everyone and everything about his hometown. He was a familiar face, a friend to many, and someone who always seemed to have a story, a connection, or a bit of local knowledge to share. He built friendships wherever he went and will be remembered for his personable nature and generous spirit.

Richard loved anything fast and loud. He loved riding his motorcycle, attending car shows, and traveling. A lifelong fan of Ford cars, he enjoyed working on them and had a knack for fixing just about anything. He was the kind of person who could always figure out how to make something work and was not afraid to get his hands dirty.

He was the beloved husband of Jean E. (Ogar) Burns. Loving father of David Burns of Pembroke and Tayla Burns of Weymouth. Brother of Leila Pollard and her husband Bobby of Wareham. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as many friends.

Richard will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him, keeping a lifetime of amazing memories and stories they will carry with them always.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to gather with the family during the visiting hours on Monday, October 12, 2026, from 11 AM to 2 PM at McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, 809 Main Street in South Weymouth. A private burial will be held at a later date. See www.Keohane.com for directions and online condolences.
