Richard Lehane

Richard Lehane

Richard Michael Lehane, of Weymouth, formerly of Jamaica Plain, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. He was 74 years old.

Born on September 30, 1950, Richard was the beloved son of the late Joseph D. and Gertrude (Nolan) Lehane. He grew up in Jamaica Plain and graduated from Saint Mary’s High School. He later attended the University of Massachusetts - Boston.

A proud Vietnam Veteran, Richard served his country with honor and integrity. Following his military service, he dedicated his professional life to the United States Postal Service, where he worked for his entire career. During those years, he formed lasting friendships that remained dear to him throughout his life.

Richard will be fondly remembered for his incredibly dry wit and razor-sharp sarcasm. Rarely without a joke — often delivered with a straight face and perfect timing — he brought laughter to every room he entered. His humor was his signature, and it left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Richard was the cherished brother of Mary Lehane of Weymouth, Helen Hillier of Woburn, Sheila Allendorf and her late husband, Richard, of Walpole, and the late Joseph Lehane, the late Peter D. Lehane and his late wife Anne Lehane. He was a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews, and a proud great-uncle to numerous grandnieces and grandnephews, all of whom brought great joy to his life.

Richard will be remembered for his quiet strength, steady presence, and deep devotion to his family and friends. His legacy of service, loyalty, and kindness will live on in all who knew and loved him.
