Richard Edward Watson, 80, of Weymouth passed away December 31, 2025 at West Roxbury VA Hospital. Richard was born March 18, 1945 in Boston and was the son of the late Douglas A. Watson and Lillian (Kight) Watson.
Richard attended Quincy public schools and was a graduate of North Quincy High School Class of 1963. He enlisted in the U.S Army from 1963-1965 and was stationed in Hawaii. After serving in the Army, Richard was employed at Armstrong Cork Co. in Braintree where he met his future wife, the late Carolyn (Chase) Watson. Richard lived in the Wollaston section of Quincy and partnered up with his brother and father with Watson Brothers Auto Repair and Towing of Boston for over 40 years. After retiring in 2014, he moved to Weymouth.
Richard was a skilled carpenter and a craftsman with metal, marble and ceramics. He has also been redesigning his house in Weymouth for the past 10 years. He enjoyed gardening, fishing/sailing, cooking, and going different restaurants, spending time at family cookouts, and celebrating the holidays with family and friends. Through the years, he attended several of his NQHS Class of 1963 reunions.
Richard is survived by his loving and caring daughter, Heather Watson of Holbrook, his brother Michael Watson of Wilmington, and his sister Linda Watson Lund of North Quincy. He was preceded in death by his brother, Douglas Watson Jr. He is also survived by nieces, grand nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to a Celebration of Life service on January 13, 2026 at 11:00AM at Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St, Quincy, MA. The family of Richard Watson would like to invite you to join them in celebrating his life at a reception immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mr. Watson can be made to the American Cancer Society, Wounded Warrior Project, or a charity of your choice.
