Rita C. (Cassidy) Ray, 56, of Weymouth, formerly of Quincy, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family October 20, 2016. Devoted daughter of Arlene A. (Mosesso) Cassidy of Quincy and the late Paul Cassidy, Sr. Beloved wife of 30 years to Edward J. Ray of Weymouth. Loving mother of Edward Ray II and his fiance La’Princia Brown and Melissa Ray all of Weymouth. Cherished sister of Paul F. Cassidy, Jr. and Donald Cotell of Randolph, Janice C. Meegan of Weymouth, Peter A. Cassidy and his wife Cindy of Brockton, Jennifer A. McGinnis and her husband James of Hanover and the late Joanne M. Cheslofska. Daughter-in-law of the late William A. and Virginia L. Ray. Dear sister-in-law of William L. Ray and his wife Pat of Wisconsin, Virginia Ray of Hull and the late Donna Simms and John Ray. Rita is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In her younger years, Rita worked at the Boston Chamber of Commerce. For over 30 years, she was employed at Goodwin Proctor in Boston as a Litigation Resources Coordinator. In her spare time she loved to bake, especially for family gatherings and holidays. She was an avid Patriots fan. Her greatest joys were spending time with her family and friends and relaxing at the beach reading her favorite book.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 3-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 8:30 AM Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Albert the Great Church, Weymouth at 9:30AM. Burial will follow in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rita’s memory to South Shore VNA, 30 Reservoir Park Drive, Rockland, MA 02370.
