Robert E. Mahar Sr., 1938, grew up in Quincy and attended QHS, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps from 1956-1958 and served as a mechanic on aircraft carriers. Upon discharge, he married Barbara J. Tappen, also of Quincy, and they raised their children Deborah (Griffin) and Robert in Braintree.
He was self employed at Mahar & Engstrom, a wholesale jeweler and watch supplies distributor until 1997. Upon retirement, he and Barbara moved to Yarmouth. Bob loved boating and spending time with his family.
Survived by his children and their spouses, he had five grandchildren and also survived by his sister Barbara Cosseboom and her husband Jack.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A funeral home service will be celebrated on Tuesday at 9 AM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
