Robert “Bob” Kelly, age 92, of Quincy, MA, and West Yarmouth, MA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on November 24, 2025, at Sunrise Senior Living in Braintree, MA.
Beloved husband of Katherine “Kay” Kelly for 62 years of marriage. Devoted father to Mary and her husband Paul Mackowski of Melrose, Lori Bellotti of Braintree, Kathleen and her husband Tom Famiglietti of Tewksbury, Susan and her husband James Archdeacon of Braintree, Robert and his wife Julie Kelly of Hingham, and Thomas Bellotti of Quincy. Cherished “Papa” to his 14 grandchildren: Sarah, Stefan and Shannon Mackowski; Anthony, Nicholas (wife Colleen), Kelly and Lauren Bellotti; Matthew (wife Aly), Michael (fiancé Allison) and Katie Famiglietti; Colleen and Conor Archdeacon; and Samantha and Robert Kelly.
Bob was predeceased by his parents Thomas J. and Mary E. (Furlong) Kelly; his brothers Thomas, Paul, William, Francis, John and Charles Kelly; and his sisters Ann Hayes and Virginia Doherty. He is survived by his sister-in-law Anne Kelly Perneta and her husband Joseph of Holbrook, MA; brother-in-law David Leary of Hobe Sound, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
Born and raised in Dorchester, MA, Bob was a graduate of Saint Peter’s Grammar School and Dorchester High School. He excelled as a high school athlete and later as a starting right guard for the 1957 championship-winning St. Paul’s team in the Boston Park League (BPL) Football. Football was a lifelong passion and he never missed a Boston College game and tailgate as a season ticket holder.
He had a successful 43-year career at Boston Edison, now Eversource, as a Senior High Voltage Cable and Oil Line Inspector and union steward. An avid history buff, beach lover and gardener, he loved tending his many rose and vegetable gardens and sharing their beauty and bounty with family, friends, neighbors and Father Bill’s Place in Quincy; enjoying Cape Cod beaches and backyard barbecues; and, above all else, spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren’s sports games, dance recitals and school events. Bob was a devout Catholic and very proud of his Irish heritage. He was always grateful for the many blessings in his life.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, November 30, 4-7 PM at the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., Quincy. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:15 AM in the funeral home on Monday, December 1, prior to the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Ann’s Church, 757 Hancock Street, Quincy. Burial will follow at Mount Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.
If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to a charity of your choice.
