It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert L. Knight, Jr., following a brief illness, at the age of 61.
Born in Weymouth, Massachusetts on April 15, 1964, Rob was the son of the late Robert L. Knight, Sr. and Roberta (Nicholson) Knight. He graduated from Xaverian Brothers High School, Class of 1982. Rob was a highly successful and dedicated business owner, operating Rainbow Paint Supply in Braintree for over 30 years.
Rob was drawn to wide horizons, whether it be wind and water in the warmer months or snow and solitude in the winter. A lifelong boater, he loved spending time on the water with his family. He found equal joy at his beloved home in Maine, where he was passionate about working on projects, snowmobiling through the winter landscape, and enjoying time with those closest to him.
Besides his parents, Rob was predeceased by his wife, Donna (Golden) Knight. He was the loving and devoted father of Lauren Knight of Weymouth, Kimberly Knight of Braintree, and Robert Knight III of Hanson, and the longtime companion of Christine Thomson of Pembroke. He is also survived by his siblings, Lorraine M. Murrin and her husband James of Marshfield, and Jeffery R. Knight of Virginia. Rob will also be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by many extended family members, especially his brothers- and sisters-in-law, as well as his nieces and nephews, with whom he shared a close and special bond.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and medical staff at Brigham and Women’s Hospital for their kindness, compassion, and exceptional care while caring for Rob.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, January 23, 2026, from 4:00- 7:00 p.m. at the McDonald Funeral Home, 809 Main Street, South Weymouth, MA. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Church, 392 Hanover Street, Hanover, MA. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in South Weymouth.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Rob may be made to the Roxbury Snowmobile Club. To honor Rob’s memory, his family also encourages support of small and medium-sized businesses.
