Robert W. “Bob” McAuley passed away on October 17th after a decades long battle with kidney disease, surrounded by his loving family.
Robert was born on March 27, 1941, in Boston, MA. He attended Don Bosco High School while living in East Boston, where he met many of his lifelong friends. He completed Army basic training at Fort Dix in New Jersey and served in the Army Reserves. Bob later received an associate’s degree from Northeastern University.
Bob met the love of his life, Mary Geraldine Farley, while she was working at New England Life. They were married on November 28, 1964, and first lived in Weymouth before settling to raise their children in Braintree.
Bob continued his insurance career at New England Life before joining Baystate Financial Services in 1985 where he continued to work before retiring in 2006. He made and maintained many friendships throughout his career and into retirement.
Bob and Mary enjoyed many social activities throughout their marriage including bowling, square and round dancing, and camping throughout the Northeast with an extended circle of fellow camping families. His greatest joy came with the arrival of his granddaughters. He reveled in watching them grow from children into adults and witnessing all their accomplishments.
Bob is survived by his wife of 61 years Mary (Farley) McAuley of Weymouth, his son Christopher McAuley, and his wife Christine, of Braintree, and his three beloved granddaughters Maggie of Providence, RI, and Kate and Bridget of Braintree. He was pre-deceased by his son Robert W. McAuley Jr. of California, and his parents William and Mary (Fallon) McAuley of Jamaica Plain MA. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family wishes to thank the many medical facilities and staff who cared for Bob through out his fight, including Harbor Medical, DaVita, South Shore Health, Brigham & Women’s, Mass General, and the staff at The Sherrill House and Good Sheppard hospice who cared for Bob in his final days.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Friday, October 23, 2026, from 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home EAST WEYMOUTH at 3 Charles Street (corner of Charles & Middle Street).
