Ronald
Schuppert
January 20, 1935 – April 18, 2026
Schuppert, Ronald, 91, of New York, NY passed away in Weymouth, MA on April 18, 2026. A born-and-raised New Yorker, Ronald—known to friends and loved ones as Ron—led a life marked by service and community. At the age of 19, he enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Alaska during the Korean War. Upon his return, he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice at John Jay College and embarked on a long career with the NYPD. He later founded and operated his own security firm, Linden Security.
Ron was the beloved husband of 57 years to Jennifer (Horn) Schuppert. Together, they built a life and raised their two daughters on Roosevelt Island, NY where he was a leader in the community; he was treasurer of the Roosevelt Island Residents Association, a board member of the Rivercross Tenants’ Corp, and President of the Roosevelt Island Garden Club. He was a beloved fixture at the community gardens, where he could often be found tending his plot, barbequing with friends, feeding the community cats, or simply reading with his pipe under a tree. Ron was voracious reader of fiction and the New York Times, had a deep appreciation of classical music, and was an avid sports fan, cheering for the Brooklyn Dodgers as a child and later, the New York Giants.
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer; his two daughters, Alexandra Schuppert of Weymouth, MA, and Margaret Schuppert and her partner Hudson Kingston of Ely, MN; his nephews Ronald (Rosalie) and Richard (Marjorie) Cass; his brother-in-law Charles (Jane) Horn; sister-in-law Leslie (Simon) Horn Finlow; and many grand-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Dolores and Sandra, and his brother-in-law, Garfield "Pete" Horn.
A memorial service will be held at a later date; please refer back here to www.keohane.com for updates. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Ron’s name to the North Shore Animal League or an animal or veterans’ charity of your choice.
