Rose M. (Piraino) Orlandella

Rose Orlandella, 77, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family.

Rose was the beloved wife of the late Anthony Orlandella, who died in 2009. She was the devoted mother of Keith Orlandella and his wife Caitlin Slodden of Hingham, Adam Orlandella and his wife Kristen of Scituate, Josh Orlandella and his wife Olivia of Braintree, and the late Stacie Casey, who died in 2024.

Known lovingly as “Nonna,” she was the proud grandmother of Michael, Natalia, Sam, Giada, Siena, and Sophia, and great-grandmother to Ben. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Rose was preceded in death by her siblings.

Born in Norwood, Rose graduated from Stonehill College with a degree in Linguistics and could speak Spanish, French, and English. She later married Tony, whose Army service brought them briefly overseas to Okinawa, Japan, where their daughter Stacie was born. Rose ultimately devoted her life to raising her family and supporting many of Tony’s entrepreneurial ventures.

Later, she worked alongside Tony as a realtor, where her natural eye for design shone through. Long before the days of Pinterest or Houzz, her home was always beautifully arranged, a reflection of her ability to make any space warm, inviting, and stylish. She brought that same gift to her clients, helping them not only find houses but imagine the homes they could become.

Rose was a woman of many passions and talents. A lifelong student, she believed deeply in education and was an avid reader. She had a deep love for walking, especially her long strolls with a close friend. She also had a unique flair for fashion, always impeccably dressed with an eye for style that made her stand out in every room.

A devoted sports fan, Rose cheered fiercely for her teams, especially the New England Patriots and the Boston Celtics. Her love for sports went far beyond watching. In her younger years, she played flag football as a fearless and fast running back. That competitive spirit carried into her family life as well. She was a constant, proud supporter at her children’s sporting events, never missing a chance to be their biggest fan.

Some of Rose’s happiest days were spent in Lake George, New York, fishing, boating, and enjoying time with loved ones. She found joy in simple pleasures, whether mini golfing with family, relaxing on the beach, or soaking in the sun.

Rose’s talents extended into music. She had a beautiful singing voice and once performed with a band in front of 7,000 people in Okinawa, Japan, an experience she carried as one of her most cherished memories.

Her devotion extended beyond her immediate family. As the youngest sibling by many years, she was closer in age to her nieces and nephews than her brother and sister, and she cherished those relationships deeply, becoming both aunt and friend. She was also a cherished daughter-in-law, and after Tony’s passing, she moved in with her father to lovingly care for him in his later years.

Family was always at the center of her life. She was a faithful mother, grandmother, aunt, and cousin whose door was always open and whose table was always full. A gifted cook, she honored her Italian heritage through countless meals shared with family and friends. She carried on the tradition of her own parents and grandparents by keeping Sunday dinners alive. Gathering the family around the table each week was not optional, it was a must, and those meals became the backdrop for countless memories that her children and grandchildren will forever cherish.

Rose was also an avid animal lover, especially of cats. Her own pets were never far from her side, and her back patio became something of a legend: a Vegas-level buffet laid out daily for the town’s strays. She didn’t mind when raccoons or squirrels joined the feast—her kindness extended to them, too.

When she was healthy, Rose lived with a vitality that belied her age, often walking or running five miles a day. In later years, even as her health declined, she still found joy in family gatherings, especially holidays, when she could be found happily snacking her way through the day with an appetite that always amazed her family.

A woman of deep faith, Rose loved attending church on Sundays. Whether watching her favorite game shows, relaxing with Tony and the family in front of the TV, or sharing laughter at the dinner table, her presence made everything brighter.

Soft-spoken and humble by nature, Rose carried a quiet strength that defined her life: steady, faithful, and always centered on her family. She will be remembered not only for what she did, but for how she made people feel, seen, and loved.
