With profound sadness, we announce the unexpected passing of Rosemary Plausky, of Hull, MA, who passed away on June 26, 2026, at the age of 80.
Born in Cambridge to James and Helen Whalen, Rosemary lived a life defined by her deep love of family, quiet strength, and enduring kindness. To her extended family, she was more than a relative—she was the thread that helped hold generations together. To her friends in Cambridge, Hull, and beyond, including those from her work, she will be remembered for her warm smile, generous spirit, and the way she made everyone feel instantly welcomed.
To know Rosemary was to love her. She had a remarkable sense of humor, a mischievous wit, and never hesitated to say exactly what was on her mind. Mildly inappropriate at times, but always hilarious, she had a way of making everyone around her laugh. Her generosity knew no bounds, and family and friends could always count on receiving one of her wonderfully eccentric gifts, chosen with thoughtfulness and love.
Rosemary treasured time with the people she loved most. She looked forward to monthly lunches, girls' trips, and daily phone calls with her lifelong Cambridge girlfriends, friendships that remained a constant source of joy throughout her life. More than anything, however, she adored being "Nana." Her greatest happiness came from spending time with her grandchildren, who were the center of her world and the source of her greatest pride. She filled many lives with laughter and love.
She is survived by her children, Janice Clasby of Braintree, Michael and CarolAnn Plausky of Middleboro, and Kevin Plausky of Weymouth. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Jamie Clasby and Paul DePlacido, Daniel Clasby, Sean Clasby, Ryan Plausky, Justin Plausky, and Haylee Londergan, along with her lifelong Cambridge friends, many cherished relatives, and countless dear friends.
Rosemary was preceded in death by both her beloved son, Jimmy Plausky of Hull, and her brother, James F. Whalen Jr. of Gloucester, MA.
Rosemary's quick wit, generous heart, fierce love for her family, and unforgettable personality made her truly one of a kind. Her absence leaves an immeasurable void, but her stories, laughter, and the countless memories she created will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Friends and family are invited to attend her services: A wake will be held on Tuesday, July 7, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, July 8, at 11:00 a.m. Both services will be held at Pyne Keohane Funeral Home in Hingham, Massachusetts.
