Shirley E. Ward (Robertson) of Whitman, formerly of Quincy, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025. She was 93.
She was born in Somerville to Ruby (Graves) and Daniel Robertson and raised in South Boston. She worked as a razor blade inspector for Gillette, however her true calling was being a mom, grandmother, great-grandmother and yes even a great-great-grandmother. Shirley’s life centered around her family. Before she was a matriarch, she was a wife to Arthur F. Ward. Together they enjoyed long road trips that often ended with Castle Island, one of Shirley’s favorite spots. She loved hosting dinners and game nights with her family. If there was music playing, Shirley was on the dance floor and was always a proud first. Shirley was also an avid bowler and played in a league.
Shirley was always outgoing, and people were drawn to her sense of humor, feisty personality and honesty. She had this innate ability to make friends just about everywhere she went. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Beloved wife to the late Arthur F. Ward. Devoted mother to Christine E. Jarrett of Whitman and her late husband Fred, and Arthur F. Ward Jr. and his wife Claudine of CA. Loving grandmother to Lisa, Christine, Kimberly, Shirley, Jesse, Karina and Shane, great-grandmother of 8 and great-great-grandmother of 2. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Ruby (Graves) and Daniel Robertson, and her 5 siblings.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 10AM-12 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne at 1:45 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Shirley’s name may be made to the Dementia Society of America - PO Box 600 - Doylestown, PA 18901.
