Stanley J. Adukonis, Jr., age 70, of North Weymouth passed away very early Sunday Morning, June 1, after years long battle with cancer.
The eldest son of Stanley Sr. and Rita (Glynn), he moved around as a child. Born in Albany, Ga, the family moved to Hawaii and South Carolina before settling in North Weymouth.
Stanley graduated high school from Weymouth North. Stan was the manager of the local Tedeschi store in North Weymouth most of his later life. He enjoyed seeing and chatting with all his regulars daily. A diehard Red Sox fan and avid lover of all things history, he would spend hours watching WW2 with Walter Cronkite or the History channel. Stan spent most New Year’s Eves with his sons watching the Three Stooges marathon and staying up past midnight.
After retirement, he took to gardening to pass most of his time. He loved to share his tomatoes with the entire neighborhood. Talking with the neighbors, most mention how much they will miss just chatting with him while he sits on the porch and receiving gifts of tomatoes all summer from his garden.
He was beloved by his 2 cats, BooBoo and Sparticus.
Father of Patrick Adukonis and wife Gretchen of Portland, Maine, and Daniel Adukonis and wife Sara of Phoenix, Arizona.
Grandfather of Noah Adukonis of Phoenix, Arizona.
Over the years, Stan loved his train set and coin collection. The smiles he shared while showing and sharing it with his grandson were some of the happiest moments of his life.
He is also survived by his two brothers, Marty and wife Donna of Abington, and Alan of North Weymouth.
Stan has 5 nieces, 4 great-nieces and 1 great-nephew.
