In Loving Memory of Stephen Rowell

We gather with love, gratitude, and fond memories to celebrate the life of Stephen Rowell — a man whose strength, humor, and kind spirit touched every heart around him.

Stephen was funny, social, and full of light. He had a calm and collected presence, always observing his surroundings and the people near him. He was cherished by all at the Vinfen Day Program and by everyone at Amego who spent time with him in his home. Stephen’s family was his chosen family — his housemates, friends, and the caring staff who looked after him, laughed with him, and whom he loved so deeply in return. Anyone who knew Stephen loved Stephen. Staff found him so special that they could never allow him to spend the holidays alone; they always made sure to visit, bringing warmth, company, and gifts that brightened his days.

Stephen loved music, often swaying his head gently from side to side as he listened. Recently, during a service for his friend Tom, when the song “What a Wonderful World” began to play, Stephen came to life — smiling wide and swaying to the music. It was a beautiful reminder of his joyful heart and the way he found connection through simple, meaningful moments.

Stephen was the social butterfly, greeting everyone with warmth and cheer. And if he ever did get upset, all you had to do was call him the “CEO,” and he’d instantly beam with a big smile. Stephen loved talking about upcoming holidays and always wanted to know when the next party was — especially if there would be Coke, coffee, pizza, and treats. If you called Stephen’s name, he might pretend he didn’t hear you — but as soon as you said “Coke,” he would immediately look at you and respond, “Coke!”

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, November 13, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Stephen's home. Please join us for pizza and soda as we share memories, laughter, and love in honor of Stephen — our friend, our “CEO,” and a true bright light in our lives.

Stephen’s gentle soul, sense of humor, and kind heart made every day brighter for those around him. He will forever be remembered for his resilience, laughter, and the love he gave so freely. His spirit continues to shine in every smile, song, and cherished memory he leaves behind.
