Susan Elliott
Ruggiero
February 26, 1943 – May 24, 2026
Susan Elliott Ruggiero (Kellahan), of Abington, Massachusetts, formerly of East Weymouth, passed away unexpectedly on May 24, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on February 26, 1943, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Susan lived a life centered around family, faith, resilience, and love.
She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Rosemary Catrambone Belaja of Hingham; her daughter, SueAnn Saletta of Winslow, Maine; and her sister, Betty Burke of Sun City, Arizona.
Susan is survived by her daughters, Dawn Crosta of East Bridgewater; Katherine Osborne of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; April Andrews and her husband, Kent, of Lexington, Kentucky; and Robin Ramos and her husband, Rick, of Boston. She also leaves behind 11 cherished grandchildren who lovingly called her “Nonny”: Rachael, Ben, Emma, Christopher, Megan, Allison, Joseph, Sam, Olivia, Jack, and Chloe; as well as her sister, Connie Desmond of Sun City, Arizona.
Susan attended high school in Hingham. As the daughter of a military family and later as a young wife, she moved frequently and lived in many places, including Alaska and Hawaii. She eventually settled in East Weymouth, where she raised her family and created a home where people loved to gather and make memories. In her later years, she made her home in Abington.
Susan loved cooking for the people she cared about, spending time at the beach, playing games, and trying her luck with the lottery. Proud of her Italian heritage, she treasured her trip to Italy, which was one of the highlights of her life. She loved celebrations and had a special gift for making holidays and special occasions sparkle. Nothing meant more to her than sharing those moments with family and friends.
A devoted Catholic, Susan’s faith remained important throughout her life. Susan was deeply loved by her family and friends, and her joyful spirit, generosity, sense of fun, and love of laughter will be dearly missed.
A memorial service will be planned at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Susan’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a cause close to her heart. Contributions may be mailed to Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
