Thomas J. Clancy, age 81 of Quincy, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, July 30, 2026.

Tom was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose life was defined by hard work, unwavering love for his family, and gratitude for every day he was given.

Raised in Roxbury, growing up in the late 1940s and early 1950s wasn't easy. He sold newspapers at age 10, shined shoes at 11, washed windows at 13, and by 16 he was living in Chicago cleaning windows. When he was younger, he was also a welterweight boxer, and according to many newspaper articles, not many opponents were standing at the end of those boxing matches.

In the early 1970s, he founded a successful window cleaning business, creating opportunities for his family that he had never experienced himself. He believed deeply in the value of education, perseverance, and earning success through honesty and dedication.

Tom shared a beautiful life with his beloved wife, Patricia, and together they raised their daughters, Beth and Jennifer. Family was always at the center of his world. He loved bringing everyone together, creating cherished traditions, and making lifelong memories. Whether skiing, golfing, boating, fishing, traveling, or simply sitting on the front porch listening to his country western music or watching the Red Sox, he found joy.

His greatest pride and happiness came from being "Papa" to his four grandchildren, Emily, Tommy, Ella, and Henry. He treasured every opportunity to cheer them on, share adventures, and simply be present for the moments in their lives that mattered most.

Tom will be remembered for his generosity, quick sense of humor, steadfast loyalty, and the genuine way he made everyone feel loved. He never ended a conversation without saying, "Love ya," a simple phrase that perfectly reflected the way he lived his life. Tom's legacy is one of love, resilience, and kindness. He taught those around him to work hard and appreciate life's simple joys.

He lived a life filled with purpose—a life truly well lived.

Tom was the beloved husband of 60 years to Patricia (Reilly), loving father of Beth Hardiman of Squantum, Jennifer Gates and her husband Michael of Squantum and Father-in-law of Stephen Hardiman. Beloved papa of Emily Hardiman, Tommy, Ella, and Henry Gates all of Squantum. Cherished brother of Donald A. Clancy of Squantum, and the late Edward “Sonny”, Joan Bunszell, William, Paul, and John Clancy. Brother-in-law of Marion Clancy of Squantum, Patricia Reilly of Braintree, Jeanne Shimkus of Squantum, Stephen Reilly of Cohasset, and John Reilly and his wife Paige of Merrymount. Tom is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends whose lives were made better by knowing him.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during visiting hours on Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 8:45-10:30a.m. at Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, Quincy. A celebration of life will be held at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. prior to the funeral mass at Sacred Heart Church, Quincy, at 11:00am. Cremation will follow.
