Thomas Halloran

December 6, 1943 – March 29, 2026

Thomas “Tommy” Halloran of Quincy passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on March 29, 2026, at the age of 82.

Born on December 6, 1943, in Rosmuck, County Galway, Ireland, Tommy was the son of the late Michael and Bridget (Née) Halloran and the eldest of eight children. He left Ireland at the age of 17 and moved to England, where he worked for six years before immigrating to the United States on March 2, 1970, initially arriving in Chicago. Six months later, he moved to Dorchester, Massachusetts, where he met his beloved wife, Una Joyce of Carna, County Galway, Ireland.

Tommy and Una were married on June 3, 1973. After many years in Dorchester, they made their home in Quincy, where they raised their five children. Tommy was a devoted parishioner of St. Mary Church in West Quincy, where he volunteered for many years at St. Mary’s School bingo nights and served as an usher at the church.

Tommy was a hardworking and dedicated provider who took great pride in leading by example for his children. A proud member of Local 223 of the Laborers’ Union since 1971, he built a long and respected career spanning 41 years, 32 of those years with Mass Electric Construction Company. He retired in 2008.

In retirement, Tommy found his greatest joy in spending time with his eight grandchildren. Affectionately known as “Dado,” he rarely missed a football game, dance recital, or special event, and was always ready to lend a hand—or a ride—whenever needed. He was also known as the family’s “Mr. Fix-It,” with a remarkable ability to repair just about anything.

In addition to his loving wife, Una, Tommy is survived by his children: Mary Ann Reilly of Milton; Noreen Halloran and her fiancé, Mike Daley, of Hull; Nancy Halloran of Quincy; Sheila Skowyra and her husband, AJ, of Weymouth; and Michael Halloran and his wife, Stephanie, of Salem; his cherished grandchildren: Caitlin, Thomas, Fiona, Aidan, Brenna, Aoife, Julia, and Ella; his siblings: Bridie Gorham, Nora Cooke, and Barbara Flaherty, all of Ireland, and Nancy Walsh and Patrick Halloran of Braintree. He was predeceased by his sisters, Maura Halloran of Ireland and Julia King of Chicago. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, April 6, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, Quincy.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 115 Crescent Street, West Quincy. Burial will follow at Blue Hills Cemetery in Braintree.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tommy’s memory to St. Mary Church in West Quincy or to a charity of your choice.
