Thomas J. Hynes, age 72, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2025 at Norwood Health Care. He was predeceased by his parents Patrick and Mary (Glynn) Hynes, and his brother Frank. He leaves his brother Paul, and sister Mary Hynes Johanson and her husband David Johanson, and several nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews.
Born February 26, 1953 at St. Margaret's Hospital in Dorchester, the city where he was raised. He attended St. Peter's Grammar School and Cathedral High School, and started college at Suffolk University, where he had won a scholarship.
Tom was a sports enthusiast and a life-long learner, despite a tragic onset of schizophrenia at age 19. Even after being stricken ill, he applied himself diligently and graduated from Northeastern University. He was able to work various part-time jobs, where he performed well.
Throughout his health challenges, Tom thoroughly enjoyed life. He always remained upbeat, cheerful, friendly and good-spirited and he was a joy to be around. Above all, he was a kind man, always ready to help and lift others any way he could. We were all blessed and privileged to have had him in our life.
