Thomas Edward Joseph Kelley

Listen to Obituary

Thomas Edward Joseph Kelley of Pembroke passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. He was 47.

Tom was born in Boston on January 5, 1979, the son of the late Thomas and Carolyn (Glaze) Kelley. He was raised in Jamaica Plain before his family moved to Quincy, a city he came to love deeply. A proud graduate of Quincy High School, Tom built a life rooted in family, friendship, and hard work.

Tom was the beloved husband of Erica (Hanson) Kelley of Pembroke and a devoted father to Liam Hanson of Weymouth, Alexa Kelley of Pembroke, and Cecilia Kelley of Pembroke. He is also survived by his sister, Carrie Rodak, and his niece, Ava McLeran, both of Idaho, along with their families.

A devoted Boston sports fan, Tom especially loved baseball and football. He also found great joy in live music and attending concerts. Some of his happiest moments were spent watching the sunset at the beach, traveling ~ especially to Jamaica and Colorado, or sitting in the backyard by the fire with his wife and children with music playing and laughter in the air. Casual, funny, generous, easygoing, and quick-witted, Tom had a way of making people feel comfortable.

Family and friends were always at the center of Tom’s life. He shared 20 years with the love of his life, marrying Erica on July 23, 2011, in Foxboro. Their life together ~ built around shared loves of sports and live music ~ was grounded in friendship, laughter, and making memories that will be cherished forever. Not only was Tom handy enough to fix just about anything around the house, but he was also an amazing cook. His family will miss his cooking dearly.

Tom took immense pride in his work and in the role he played in shaping the city around him. A proud member of Local 6, he often jokingly reminded his family that he “built this city,” pointing out the many places he helped construct in Boston ~ a lasting and tangible legacy of his dedication and craftsmanship.

Above all, Tom will be remembered for his deep love of family, his sense of humor, his laid-back spirit, and the genuine connections he made with everyone who knew him.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, from 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rt. 18 opp. South Shore Hospital).
