Laitinen, Thomas Earl, Quincy PD (retired)
Thomas E. Laitinen of Quincy, MA, passed away peacefully at home on December 30, 2025. Born on May 27, 1938 in Boston, Tom was the beloved husband of the late Barbara M. (Meade) Laitinen for 62 years. Tom was a life long resident of Quincy, graduating from North Quincy High School in 1956. He went on to serve in the United States Navy, with most of his time on duty spent on the flight deck of the USS Shangri- La. Once Tom finished his time in the Navy he went on to become a Quincy Police Officer in 1966 and retired in 1988. Tom owned TAJ coin and stamp store in Quincy for over 40 years with his wife Barbara.
Tom and Barbara met at the Lithuanian Club in Brockton and went on to marry on May 6, 1962. They enjoyed spending their vacations in the Bahamas and other Caribbean islands. Tom also enjoyed spending time down in Pembroke at the Finish UKTS Temperance Society. He treasured his summers at his pool with his family, especially all of his grandchildren.
Son of the late Earl and Eleanor Laitinen. Brother of John Laitinen of Weymouth and his wife Helen. Father of Nancy McPartlin of Rockland and her husband Sean. Father of Linda Brundage of Abington and her husband Dan. Predeceased by his daughter Joan Laitinen. Father of Kevin Laitinen. Brother-in-law of Nancy Parrish of Quincy. Father-in- law to Tina Lyons of Quincy. Uncle to his beautiful niece Kathy Parrish of Quincy.
Grandfather of Alex Laitinen, Michael Lyons, Jessica Brundage, Sydney Brundage, Lacey Brundage, Mary McPartlin and Katie McPartlin.
He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Croi Health Hospice (formerly Norwell) for all their love and support. With a special heartfelt thank you to Tom’s longtime caregiver and special friend, Cheryl Cowan of Quincy.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Thursday 1/8/2026 from 4-7 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. Funeral service will be celebrated on Friday 1/9/2026 at 10 AM in Keohane Funeral Home, Quincy. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. See www.Keohane.com for directions and online condolences.
