Thomas Frederick MacFawn, 76, of Weymouth, MA, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2026 surrounded by his loving family.

Born on June 26, 1950 in Weymouth, MA, Tom was the beloved son of the late Laurence and Ruth MacFawn and older brother to the late Susan MacFawn. Throughout his life, he was known for his quick sense of humor, kindness, strength and deep love for his family.

Tom attended Lowell University to study meteorology, a field in which he had a genuine interest. In the end, though, family came first. He chose to stay close to his mother and sister and be there for them, taking on the role of the man of the household. It was a choice that reflected Tom’s loyalty and the importance he always placed on taking care of the people he loved.

Tom was a devoted husband to Lucille and a loving father to Steven MacFawn, Robert “Bobby” MacFawn, David MacFawn, and Kristyn Vorster. He was also a cherished father-in-law to Becky MacFawn and Wessel Vorster, and a loving grandfather to Peyton, Paige, Kaylee and Skye, who brought him great joy and many treasured memories.

Tom and David shared a special bond, and much of Tom’s free time was spent simply being together with him. They would make daily trips to the grocery store, attend David’s weekly bowling activity, or work together at home, piecing David’s puzzles together once they were finished. These simple moments were a sweet example of how Tom shared his love throughout his life.

Tom was a true hometown guy. He spent his life rooted in the community he called home, where everyone seemed to know him and he knew so many in return. He was a familiar face, a friendly presence, and someone who could always share a story, a laugh, or a conversation. His friendships and connections to the community were an important part of who he was, and he will be deeply missed by the many people whose lives he touched.

Above all, Tom was a family man who taught us that it’s the little things that count. He showed us that some of life’s most meaningful moments aren’t the big ones, but the everyday moments shared with the people you love. That simple lesson is something he instilled in all of us, and it is a part of him that we will carry forward. His love, his laughter, and the countless little moments we shared with him will stay with us forever.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Tuesday, September 15 from 9-11 AM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Funeral service will be celebrated immediately following the visiting hours at 11 AM in McDonald Keohane Funeral Home. Burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Weymouth.

Though he will be deeply missed, his love, laughter, and memory will live on in all who knew and loved him.
