Victor Lloyd
Bradley, Sr.
Oct 30, 1934 — Jul 14, 2026
Mr. Victor Lloyd “Vic” Bradley Sr., age 91, passed away peacefully at his home in Quincy, Massachusetts, on July 14, 2026.
Vic was born on October 30, 1934, in Red Bank, New Jersey, to Edamonia Jordan and Burton Bradley. He lived a full and meaningful life marked by love, dedication, kindness, and unwavering devotion to his family.
Upon graduating from Red Bank High School in 1952, Vic enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served as an aircraft maintenance crew chief specialist and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. During his time in the Air Force, he discovered his love of music and joined a doo-wop group, singing many of his favorite songs.
In April 1961, Vic married Jacqueline Rose, his childhood sweetheart. Together they built a life filled with love and devotion. The couple settled in New Canaan, Connecticut, where they made their home for nearly six decades. Their house was always a place of warmth, laughter, and welcome for family and friends.
Throughout their lives, Vic and Jackie loved to travel, whether on day trips or longer adventures. Some of their favorite destinations included the Jersey Shore, Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, Nova Scotia, Acadia National Park, Block Island, Walt Disney World, Vermont, the coast of Maine, Washington, D.C., upstate New York, Quebec, Toronto, and a memorable cruise to Bermuda to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.
Vic had an exceptional work ethic and took great pride in serving his community. He began his career as a toll collector on Interstate 95 before joining the New Canaan Post Office, where he worked as a letter carrier for 45 years. After many years of walking his route, he was assigned a neighborhood route that he delivered by mail truck, serving many of his own neighbors. One of the great joys of that assignment was coming home for lunch each day.
He was also an active member of the local branch of the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC), where he formed lasting friendships with his fellow postal workers.
Even after a full day delivering mail, Vic often worked evenings at the New Canaan Gulf station until 9:00 p.m. At this full-service gas station, he washed windows, checked tire pressure, inspected fluid levels, and greeted customers with his trademark smile. It was another opportunity to connect with members of the community. More importantly, he became a mentor and father figure to many students participating in the local high school’s work-study program. Vic offered a listening ear, thoughtful advice, encouragement, and valuable life lessons to the young people who worked alongside him. He especially enjoyed serving the many well-known residents of New Canaan who stopped by the station and asked him to pump their gas.
Vic was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of New Canaan, where he faithfully served as an usher. His presence reflected his steadfast commitment to faith, fellowship, and serving others.
He was social, kind, generous, and outgoing—a friend to everyone. Simple errands around town often turned into joyful visits as he stopped to chat with friends, neighbors, and acquaintances wherever he went.
Vic’s interests reflected his vibrant personality. He had a lifelong love of Motown and was often found listening to its timeless classics. He was a devoted New York Mets fan. He enjoyed watching professional tennis, NASCAR, Formula 1, Sunday football—especially when the Pittsburgh Steelers were playing—and horse racing. He never missed an opportunity to cheer on the UConn Women’s Basketball team. He also loved staying informed by reading newspapers and following current events.
One of Vic’s favorite Sunday traditions was rising early to pick up the Sunday editions of the New York Daily News and The New York Times. He would deliver newspapers to friends, especially older neighbors who could no longer get out easily, before treating himself to a hearty breakfast at a local diner. He would then head to Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk, Connecticut, where he enjoyed reading the paper while watching the sunrise. After relocating to Quincy, Massachusetts, in 2019 to be closer to his family, he continued this cherished tradition at Wollaston Beach. Those peaceful Sunday mornings brought him great happiness.
Above all, Vic cherished his family. He is survived by his son, Victor L. Bradley Jr.; his daughter-in-law, Sabina Steede; and his beloved granddaughter, Hazel Bradley. Becoming “Poppie” was one of the greatest blessings of his life, and he took immense pride in cheering Hazel on through every milestone. He is also lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews who will forever treasure their memories of him.
Vic was predeceased by his beloved wife, Jacqueline Rose Bradley; his parents, Edamonia Jordan and Burton Bradley; his brothers, Carl, Merle, Jim, Bootsie, and Burton Jr.; and his sisters, Joyce and June.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at the First Presbyterian Church of New Canaan, Connecticut. Those wanting service information may contact Keohane Funeral Home at (617) 773-3551.
Vic’s legacy is one of love, service, generosity, and unwavering dedication to those around him. He touched countless lives through his kindness, compassion, and genuine interest in others. May his memory bring comfort, peace, and inspiration to all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in Vic’s honor to the American Heart Association in Vic’s honor. https://www.heart.org/
