Wayne Alan Gay, 75, of Hingham, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at his home on July 8th, 2026, surrounded by his family. Born on April 2nd, 1951 and raised in Norwell, Wayne was the son of Janet and John Henry Gay. He was a larger than life figure with an outsized personality that impacted so many people in every facet of his life. He loved his coffee, cigarettes, Route 66, Las Vegas, scratch tickets and going to concerts and enjoying live music. Family was the most important part of his life and he brought unwavering support to them for any occasion, from graduations, tournaments, road trips, and events.

More than anything Wayne loved his wife Jo-Ann of 55 years and together they raised and cherished 6 children,15 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. Wayne is survived by his wife Jo-Ann and his children, Wayne Jr. and his wife Stephanie, Melanie and her husband Dave, Lisa and her husband John, Joshua and his wife Meredith, his daughter Caitlin and his son Branden. Wayne was Papa to Riley, Joseph, Shea, Drew, Alexandra, Hannah, Ellie, Taylor, Derek, Cam, Colin, Ada, Cora, Lila, Nina, and great grandfather to Lola. Wayne will be fondly remembered by his brother Rick and his wife MaryAnn, his brother Jeff Gay, his brother in-law Russel Brown and his many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are welcome to pay their respects to Wayne’s family on Wednesday, July 15th, from 4-8 PM at the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald Street, in Hingham, MA. Words of remembrance will be shared at the closing of the gathering.
