William T. Campbell, Jr., known affectionately as Bill/Billy to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025, in Weymouth, MA at the age of 60.
Bill was the much beloved husband of the late Holly J. Campbell, whose memory he cherished with unwavering love. He was a loving son, born to Eileen McGonagle of Quincy and the late William T. Campbell, Sr. from Dorchester, devoted and loving father to his son, William T. Campbell III of Weymouth, and stepfather to Amy Perez of Abington and Andrew Parker of Weymouth. Bill also shared a special bond with his brothers, John Campbell of Middleborough, and Francis McGonagle of Quincy, both of whom will miss him dearly.
A proud graduate of Weymouth Vocational High School, class of 1983, where he participated in the Electronics program, Bill's strong work ethic and expertise as a telecommunications specialist were well-known and respected by his peers, and he had a career in that field spanning decades doing excellent work for M&I, Metavante, and others. He also briefly worked at Frank’s Pizza in Weymouth and loved to share stories of his countless adventures through the years.
Bill had many interests and hobbies, he was a passionate New England Patriots fan, and had great memories of watching the Patriots dynasty come together with family and friends. Music was another of Bill's passions, a universal language that spoke to his soul and brought joy to those around him. He loved classic rock, often listening to 100.7 WZLX every day in his truck and at work. He loved the simple joys of life, things like camping at Wompatuck, The Weymouth 3rd of July Fireworks, cooking out, sitting by the fire, taking a drive, visiting places close by like Great Hill during thunderstorms and Wessagusset and Nantucket Beach on beautiful summer days, but most of all, he just loved being around people and connecting with them. Having people come to the house to see him, sharing a bond with them. He loved to laugh, and always knew how to make you smile, and for as long as he could, he just wanted to help people out. He was a great man whose impact on all of us will continue to be felt for as long as we are here to keep his spirit and memory alive. His fascination with computers and electronics always kept him engaged and interested in the latest technology, and he loved taking weekend trips with his wife and son to places like RadioShack, CompUSA, BestBuy, and anywhere that allowed him to check out the newest tech. He always enjoyed helping people out when they were having computer troubles, or needed someone to help with their taxes, or just needed a helping hand with something. He loved to build and take on small projects, like building a flower box with his son to give to Holly for Mother’s Day. Anyone that knew him knows how strong he was. Even in the face of many health conditions, he showed us all the meaning of strength, and we are all so infinitely proud of the man that he was, and the strength that he has shown through so much of his life. He will be so deeply missed, fondly remembered, and always loved by those who were lucky enough to have him in their lives.
We are all so grateful to have known him, and our lives are forever better for having had him in them.
