William F. “Bill” Finnegan , 58, of Weymouth, passed away on April 24, 2026, after facing cancer the same way he faced everything else…on his own terms. He was surrounded by the people who loved and cared about him and he never lost his quick wit or sense of humor along the way.
Born on May 9,1967, and raised in Braintree, Bill was the son of the late David and Dorothy Finnegan. He graduated from Blue Hills Regional Technical High School, where he developed an interest in metal fabrication. He went on to work for many years as a printer at Courier Printing in Stoughton. He was also a member of the Braintree Delta Lodge of Masons.
Bill was many things: a Boston sports fan, an outdoors enthusiast, a lover of a good road trip, and often the life of the party. He enjoyed a good conversation (especially a political one) and rarely, if ever, backed down from his opinions. He had a sharp and sometimes sarcastic sense of humor, was quick on his feet, and, by most accounts, liked being right.
He had a natural connection with animals; some called him a “dog whisperer” and worked as a dog groomer in his later years. He loved dogs in a way that was easy to see and hard to match. Bill was especially proud of his six years of sobriety. He valued his sober community deeply and remained grateful for the people who supported and encouraged him along the way.
He is survived by his sons, Daniel Finnegan and Michael Finnegan, both of Plymouth, and his grandson, Jackson. He also leaves behind his sisters, Lisa Palacios of Weymouth and her partner Rich, and Susan McDonald of Connecticut and her husband John; his nieces, Lauren Gervais of Hanover and Samantha Palacios of Woburn; his "Auntie", Arleen Boyd of Weymouth; his cousins, Kristin Leonard and Kim Leonard of Weymouth; along with many other extended family members and friends.
Bill lived life his way, right up until he couldn’t, and he wouldn’t have had it any other way.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Thursday 5/7/2026 from 4-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So.
