It is with immeasurable sadness that we announce the passing of Zhaneta Faber on April 4, 2026.
Zhaneta was born in Korca, Albania on February 21, 1940 to her mother Evanthi Kotelli and her father Sotir Nako. At an early age, Zhaneta’s mother passed away while her father was living in the United States. Left on her own as a child, Zhaneta was soon raised by her Aunt Jorgjia Shahini alongside her husband Vaske Shahini. The Shahini’s considered Zhaneta to be their own daughter and loved her deeply. With an immense passion for education, Zhaneta spent her early years in Korca studying to become an elementary teacher.
In September of 1960 she married her late husband Vasil Faber, who was commonly known as Berti in Korca. Zhaneta had her two children, Arben and Monika shortly after. After teaching in various schools throughout Korca, Zhaneta and her husband moved to Poland for 8 years where he served time as an Albanian Diplomat. In 1979, she came back from Poland and moved to Tirana, Albania. In Tirana, she flourished as an elementary school teacher at 20 Vjetori. There, she devoted her time to all her students, teaching subjects ranging from math to literature. She cultivated the talents of her pupils throughout her career as a dedicated educator and cherished the ambition that her students carried.
Shortly after the tragic passing of her husband Berti in 1987, Zhaneta moved to the United States in 1991. She continued her gift for education in Boston, MA where she was heavily involved in the upbringing of her granddaughters.
Taking the young girls out for a day of playing in the Frog Pound during the sweltering Boston summer afternoons. Helping roll out dough in the kitchen on a dewy Sunday morning so her family could enjoy eating byrek together. Leading the girls out for walks near Wollaston Beach at dusk. Where each granddaughter rode their bikes and scooters ahead of her after a long day of playing with Nena. Followed by comfy sleepovers where they would all dip ladyfingers into mugs of hot chocolate together. Zhaneta gifted all her granddaughters with colorful and joyful childhoods that they will each cherish for a lifetime.
Loved and adored by all her friends. Zhaneta’s admiration for travel led her to go on thrilling adventures with her wondrous group of girlfriends in new cities. Zhaneta and her friends continuously planned trips together, where they all went on various cruises with each other throughout the years. Zhaneta’s extensive travel destinations include The Bahamas, Italy, Hungary, Florida, Las Vegas, and Washington D.C to name just a few. Every summer she would travel to The White Mountains in New Hampshire whereshe’d spend a weekend with her daughter to watch her granddaughter perform at The Indian Head Resort. Another one of Zhaneta’s favorite places to visit was California. She frequently traveled to the west coast with her favorite travel companion, Jorgjia and would continue to visit her eldest granddaughter there.
Zhaneta loved reading, cooking, traveling, and watching Telenovelas alongside her granddaughters. She had a distinct passion for clothing and style. Always using her sharp wit and intense humor that would immediately fill up any room she was in. She recently became tech savvy with her iPad. With a knack for always staying up to date on current day trends, Zhaneta loved being able to send funny videos to her family and friends on Instagram and Facebook. Posting pictures of her loved ones every single day became one of her favorite past times.
Most of all, she enjoyed spending quality time with her close family and friends. Zhaneta was always there for her loved ones during their momentous life occasions. She was an inspiration and support system for everyone around her. Her zest for life serves as a constant reminder that there are joy and happiness to be found, even in our most difficult moments.
She leaves behind her son Arben Faber, her daughter Monika Ramizi, her daughter-in law Egesta Faber, and her son- in law Ramiz Ramizi. She also leaves behind her four loving granddaughters Esli Ramizi, Borana Ramizi, Adora Faber, and Lydia Faber. She was predeceased by Vasil Faber, Jorgjia Shahini, Vaske Shahini, Evanthi Kotelli, and Sotir Nako.
