Bessie (Stamoulis) Papageorg

Bessie Papageorg (Stamoulis) of Boston, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully, at 99 years of age, on Sunday, December 27, 2020 with her family by her side. Loving and devoted wife of the late Xenophon Papageorg.  Loving and devoted mother of Evangelos “Lucky” Papageorg and his partner Juli Ra – Goodman of Braintree, MA, Carolyn “Carol” Watts and her husband Paul Watts, III of North Reading, MA and Maria Papageorg and her late fiancé David Orchard, Jr. of Boston. Loving, devoted and cherished Yiayia of Heather Keen of Braintree and Kristen Watts of North Reading. Loving Godmother of Manny Tamvaklis of Dracut, MA.  Bessie was the loving and special aunt of Maria and her husband Bruce Hand of NH and Denise Macaronas of Maine. A special thank you to Maria and Denise for their devoted love, support and constant presence in Bessie’s life. Loving and devoted aunt of Thomas Macaronas of Kansas, Luann Flood and her late husband Charles T. Flood, Jr. of NH and Sandy George of Maine. Great aunt and Great great aunt of many loving nieces and nephews. Loving daughter of the late George E. and Maria (Angelikas) Stamoulis. Loving sister of the late Theodora Macaronas and her late husband Louis of NH and the late Emmanuel “Mike” Stamoulis of FL as well as many loving cousins and friends.

Bessie loved spending time with her beloved family and friends as well as reading, knitting and crocheting. Bessie was a member of the Braintree Council of Aging, for over 20 years, where she enjoyed attending crafts and knitting circle. Bessie received recognition for her handmade donations of lap robes for veteran’s; blankets, sweaters, and hats for premature babies; mittens, scarves, hats, gloves and afghans for patience at nursing homes and rehabilitation centers, as well as for the less fortunate.

The Papageorg family expresses a very special thank you to Erin Newell whom our mother referred to as “her adopted daughter” for her love, assistance and support. In addition, an expression of heartfelt gratitude to South Shore VNA and Acti-Kare Responsive In – Home Care for the loving care they provided for Bessie over the last several months.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visitation on Saturday, January 2, 2021 in St. Catherine’s Greek Orthodox Church, 119 Common Street, Braintree from 9:30-10:30am followed by the Funeral Service at 10:30am. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.

Bessie was a long-time member of St. Catherine’s Greek Orthodox Church. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in memory and honor of Bessie to The Building Fund Account – St. Catherine’s Greek Orthodox Church, 119 Common St. Braintree, MA 02184.
