George E. MacNeil

Mr. George E. MacNeil, of South Weymouth, passed away in his home on January 27, 2021. He was 86.

George enjoyed his 42 year career with Boston Edison retiring as an Engineer. A proud veteran, he served his country with the United States Army and was also a  life member and Past Commander of the George R. Bean American Legion Post # 79 in South Weymouth as well as the Weymouth-Braintree Lodge of Elks # 2232 in Weymouth. George and his wife Jean enjoyed many happy and memorable times in Englewood, Florida where they also enjoyed golfing. George loved being a comedian with his brothers and always could be known as one of the family jokesters.

Beloved husband of 64 years to Jean (Horton) MacNeil.

Loving father of Susan Grossman and her husband, Paul, of Marshfield, and Lori Hill and her husband, Robert Hill, Jr of Port Charlotte, FL. Brother of the late Robert MacNeil, the late Russell MacNeil, the late Richard MacNeil, the late Kenny MacNeil, the late Alan MacNeil, the late Dorothy Hardman, and the late Ethel Sherman. Survived by Margaret MacNeil-Erikson and David Sherman. Proud Grampy to Andrew, Christopher, Tyler, and Robert, III. Proud Great Grandfather to Emilee and Analia. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday from 2-5 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital).

Funeral services will be celebrated on Monday at 10 AM in Old South Union Church, Weymouth. Burial in Fairmount Cemetery, Weymouth.
