Henry “Hank” P. Murray Jr.

Henry “Hank” P. Murray, Jr., 95, of South Weymouth, MA passed away peacefully at The Dr. Ruth McLain Hospice Home on January 19, 2021.

Hank was born in Boston to the late Henry and Agnes (Dorion) Murray and was raised in Quincy Point, MA.  He graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Weymouth and attended Tufts University where he played football.  After proudly serving in the U.S. Navy as a Medic during WWII, Hank returned home and graduated from his beloved Boston College in 1950. Hank married the love of his life, Marilyn (Santacroce) on April 21, 1951.  They were married 65 years prior to her passing in 2015.

Hank had a lifelong career as the Regional Sales Manager at A.H. Robbins Pharmaceuticals, retiring in 1989. He was a devout Catholic and an active member of St. Francis Xavier Church in South Weymouth where he served as a Eucharistic Minister.  Hank was always a gentlemen, with an extraordinarily warm personality.  He captured the hearts of everyone he met, making friends wherever he went.  He enjoyed traveling, golf, and attending BC Football games with friends. He especially loved the beach and time spent with family at his summer home in South Yarmouth. 

Loving father of Marilyn Garofalo and her husband Joseph of Middleboro, MA; Cathy DiTullio and her husband Vincent of Hanover, MA; Richard Murray and his wife Anne of Rockland, MA; and Michelle Evans and her husband Mark of Meredith, NH and Ft. Myers, FL. Dear brother of Mary Ellen Hurley and her husband David of Sarasota, FL; and brother-in-law of Dewey Santacroce and his wife Claire of Vernon, CT.  Proud grandfather of 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.  Hank was predeceased by his sisters Jean Murray and Audrey Moscato.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday, January 24th from 2-4 PM at the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home of South Weymouth, 809 Main Street (Rte opp. South Shore Hospital).  A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Church, South Weymouth, at 10 AM on Monday, January 25th.  Burial is private.  In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Henry’s memory to The Dr. Ruth McLain Hospice Home, 321 Manley St, West Bridgewater, MA 02379 or to Alzheimer’s Assn., MA Chapter, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452.
