James H. “Sparky” Fairclough, IV

James H. Fairclough, IV of Hull passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 16, 2021. He was 72.

Known to most as “Sparky,” he was the eldest son of James H. Fairclough III and Miriam Driscoll Fairclough. Sparky attended Newman Prep in Boston and graduated from Scituate High School Class of 1966 where he played baseball and hockey. He also enjoyed summers at the Scituate Harbor Yacht Club.

In 1968, Sparky enlisted with the Marine Corps serving with distinction during the Vietnam Conflict. After returning to the states, Sparky began perfecting his skiing in Aspen, CO. He eventually found his calling and became a highly successful master carpenter.

Sparky was a generous, kind and friendly guy, who helped anyone who asked, including volunteering at a hospital in Haiti. Sparky was known as the mayor of his neighborhood taking two hours to complete a 20 minute walk with his treasured dogs.

A 40-year resident of Hull, Sparky is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley (LaConte), his siblings Drew O’Neil (Paul), Biff Fairclough (Faith) and Amy Buhl (Larry) along with many adored nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Nick Fairclough.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at 10 AM at St. Mary of the Nativity, 1 Kent Street, Scituate MA 02066.
