James P. O’Rourke

On Sunday December 20, 2020 James P.  AKA Jim O’Rourke, Weymouth, MA devoted husband and father passed away peacefully at home at age 86. He was born February 14, 1934 in Chippewa Falls, WI.

He served 20 years in the Navy stationed out of San Diego CA. He then entered civilian life and worked at General Dynamics as a Shipfitter and South Weymouth Naval Air Base as a Base Housing Maintenance Supervisor. 

He dabbled in Chimney Sweeping and Photography until his retirement. 

He spent his remaining time doing what he enjoyed most, travel, camping, sailing, riding the motorcycle and the Wisconsin family reunions. WG1L was also an avid ham radio operator and proficient with morse code. 

He was well known for his quick wit, infectious smile, and compassionate caregiving spirit.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Hazel, his sisters Loretta and June and his sons JJ and Jeff.

He is survived by his wife Joan, his sons Mark, Scott, Kevin, and Steve and his wife Kate, his daughters Sharon and Julie and her boyfriend Bob and JJ’s fiancé Aleta Marie, his grandchildren Jimmy,  Russell and his wife Nicola, Kendra, Ashli, Sean and Brendan, his great grandchildren Travis and Trevor and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday from 2-4 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A – Bicknell Square).

Due to the latest Covid Restrictions, Funeral Services and Burial will be private for the Immediate family only.

Jim’s Funeral Service will be live-streamed on this website on Sunday at 4 PM

Normally, the funeral is an opportunity for the community to gather in support of one another. Although we cannot gather together with Jim’s family at this time, friends may still offer their support by sharing a special memory or message by clicking the link above.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to St. Jude Childrens Hospital or any Animal Rescue League.
