Jane R. Galvin

Galvin, Jane R. of Weymouth, passed away July 21, 2021. She was born in Weymouth to the late George and Kathryn Galvin. Jane was a lifelong resident of Weymouth. She was a graduate from Archbishop Williams High School and Stonehill College. Jane worked for the Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance for 47 years as a social worker. She was also an avid gardener and a member of the Weymouth Garden Club. Jane won many awards for her work as a floral designer for Art in Bloom at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts which is the Museum’s annual festival of fine art and flowers created by New England garden clubs. In addition to gardening and floral design, Jane also enjoyed buying and selling antiques and vintage décor, and was a member of an antique cooperative in Braintree for many years.

 

Loving sister of George Galvin of Weymouth and the late Mary Killian, David Galvin and John Galvin. Cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews. Also survived by several close friends whom she made family over the years.

 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Monday 10-11 AM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). A service will follow in the funeral home at 11 AM. Burial in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Weymouth. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to one of the following causes that were important to Jane: The Dana Farber Institute, The Alzheimer’s Association or the ALS Association.
