Joan Gray McWade

Joan Gray (Acone) McWade, formerly of Weymouth, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 12th, 2021 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Brighton. Born on June 28th, 1932 in Somerville, daughter of the late Spartaco and Beatrice (Gray) Acone, she was a graduate of Medford High School and attended The Vesper George School of Art in Boston.  

Beloved wife of the late Francis A. McWade, Joan was a devout catholic, devoted wife, and loving mother. She was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting and sewing, as well as spending time in the garden. She loved cooking and baking from scratch for her family and treasured visits from her grandchildren. Joan was gentle, quiet, and intelligent.  She selflessly committed her life to her husband and children. Her faith was central to how she lived her life and she was a strong pro-life advocate. She always maintained a positive, enduring attitude and found the best in people.  She will be deeply missed.

Joan is survived by her eight children and their families; Michael McWade of Milton, James McWade and wife Wendy, of Guilford, CT, Francis McWade and wife Dorothy, of Weymouth, Paul McWade and wife Constance, of Hull, Timothy McWade and wife Andrea, of Derry, NH, Robert McWade and wife Maria, of Scituate, Mary McWade, of Quincy, and Angela Draper and husband William, of Franklin. She is also survived by her 15 grandchildren; Trista Dron, Timothy McWade, Rowan Avery McWade, Michael McWade, Kerri McWade, Sean McWade, Matthew McWade, Alex McWade, Arthur McWade, Ava McWade, Jack McWade, Alaina McWade, Ryan Gray Sempiana-McWade, David Draper, and Jessica Draper, four great grandchildren; Lily Dron, Mia Dron, Santino Sorbo-McWade, and Aubrie Sorbo-McWade, and two sisters; Thama Dumel, of Dunedin, FL and Mary Camuti, of Framingham.  

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during visiting hours on Wednesday, June 16th, 4-8 PM at the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, 809 Main St., South Weymouth, MA (Route 18, opposite South Shore Hospital). 

Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:30 AM on Thursday prior to the funeral mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Weymouth, at 10:30 AM, with burial to follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, Weymouth.
