Josephine R. “Fenie” Connolly

Josephine R. “Fenie” (Murphy) Connolly (96) of Quincy, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her six children on Monday, Jan. 8.  Daughter of the late Bridget Josephine (Kelly) Murphy and John J. Murphy.   Beloved wife of the late Francis Connolly. Originally from Dorchester, Josephine (AKA “Fenie”) worked for many years as a Manager in the Boston School Food Service Program, retiring in 1987. After retiring, she loved Friday night dinners with (“The Girls”) former coworkers. Fenie was a lifetime member of the Quincy YMCA.  She was an avid Red Sox fan and proud of her Irish Heritage and Culture. In her later years, she was kept busy by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Josephine leaves her six children: Ellen (Connolly) Munroe of Hull; Paul Connolly and his wife Micki of Plymouth; John Connolly and his partner Diane McAlpin of Abington; Joni McDermott and her husband Charles of Braintree; Joseph Connolly and his wife Erin of Whitman; and Ann Marie Hynes and her husband Paul of Dorchester. In addition to her children, she is survived by her sister Helen Lilly of Dorchester and her brother John Joseph Murphy of Quincy and her sister the late Anne Stasz. Also 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 2-6 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:45 AM on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10:30 AM.  Burial will be private.
