Sylvia C. (Pike) Beaton

Sylvia (Pike) Beaton RN, an accomplished classical pianist, psychiatric nursing instructor, former owner and  president of Hyde Park Convalescent Home, passed peacefully on March 26, 2021, at her home in Chatham, Massachusetts.

Born in Newfoundland, Canada on March 23, 1940, Sylvia emigrated to the United States in 1953 to attend Jeanne d’Arc Academy in Milton. She graduated from Boston College School of Nursing with honors (Class of 1960). A dedicated and compassionate nurse, she devoted her life to caring for those in need; served as a board member of Dove Inc.-an organization that combats domestic violence; obtained her Masters Degree with distinction from Simmons College; sang with the Quincy Choral Society and served as music librarian.

Sylvia is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, James; her son Christopher of New York and her siblings: Leone Overton of Canton, Carolyn Godfrey of Quincy, and Arthur Pike of Middleboro. She was predeceased by her sister Alma Cheney of Ipswich.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family on Saturday, May 15, 2021 from 9 through 10 AM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY.

Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 10 AM in the Keohane Funeral Home, Quincy.

Interment is private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in Sylvia’s name to the charitable organization of one’s choice.
