Condolences to the Family of Paul Morris Goldman

2021

I would like to send my condolences to Joanne and family. I still remember Paul catching striped sea bass. We have many wonderful memories together being on the water and he will be sadly missed.

While I have not seen Paul in many years I have very fond childhood memories of him. He always had a smile and often called me Lisa Gabriella or Curly Locks. I was very saddened to hear of this huge loss. I wish peace and comfort for Joanne and her family during this difficult time

I've never felt I was more a member of the family than I have with Chuckie's family—and never felt I was more at home than with them than at their home, where Paul happily put up with me for days at a stretch. I so loved spending time with Paul and Joanne and Barry and Harry in Newton, at the beach house, and out on the water; where I know he is now—pulling traps with Harry, the mystery of the universe secrets at last revealed.

Grandma, I was lucky to have heard today the beautiful stories the boys told about their dad and grandfather. They rang true to me. Some of them are my personal experiences too. I hadn't actually known where this came from but I have long had a passion: kids need to learn how to swim. Weekend before last, I spent 2 hours in a hotel pool with my grandsons - recreating for them what I had learned from Paul - how to not fear the water, how to have fun in the water - and how to swim. The other is from the story by Sam about Paul and crosswords. Many Sundays I worked on crosswords with Paul. He didn't need my help but he shared them with me. Years later, I began to understand what a difficult crossword partner I had been. I was messy - many of my letters overwrote the across and down clue numbers. I now know how hard it is to solve to solve puzzles after some yokel has obliterated all the numbers and made matching them to clues is impossible. He never complained. I am so sorry that you now go on without Paul. I do know though of your children's love for you and, while life will not be the same - you will not be alone. They will take care of you. Love, Dan

Paul was one of the smartest, wisest, and kindest souls I have ever meet. His goodwill towards others and sunny disposition were relentless. He will be missed.
