Condolences to the Family of Maureen E. Connors

2021

Dear Connors' Family, I am so sorry to hear about Mrs. Connors passing. She will surely be missed by many but never be forgotten! I'll always remember how kind she was to me and made me feel part of your family every time I was at your house. I can still picture her preparing the boy's plates for dinner and cutting the meat on each plate. I think she did it just see my reaction ... and it was always followed by that cute little grin. She was a great mother and friend to everyone and I will cherish all of the memories! Love you all, Nathan đź‘Ľ

Dear Connors family, I’m so sad to hear about your Mom. I’ll always remember how kind she was to me and made me feel part of your family every time I was at your house. She was such a wonderful woman! I can still picture her at the counter cutting the boys meat before she served dinner. I think she did it just to see my reaction … followed by her cute little grin. She will be missed dearly! Love you all, Nathan ❤️

Dear Uncle Billy and the entire Connors Family, I am so sorry to hear of Aunt Maureen's passing. I will always remember visiting in Weymouth as a child. There was always good food and so fun to see the cousins. Maureen would always have great knit gifts and Christmas ornaments for us to put on the tree. She will be missed and she is blessed to have such a wonderful family by her side to the end. Thinking of you all.xo Brenda Coppola Fitzpatrick

Whether you knew her as Maureen, Nana, Nana Nana, Cuckoo Nana, or Nana Moe... you knew that my grandmother didn’t care about materialistic things. In fact, she was happy so long as she was in her dungarees and flip flops. My grandmother didn’t have much, but what she did have she spent doing for others. She loved a bargain and loved when Papa would give her cash so she could go shopping at the Dollar Tree. If you were lucky enough to know my Nana, I’m sure at one point in your life she fed you her famous snickerdoodles, her banana bread, or meatballs that could feed a small army. If she challenged you to a game of Qwirkle you knew never to say no. If she liked you, then I bet I could find some plastic canvas or crocheted Christmas ornaments hanging on your Christmas tree. When I think of my grandmother, the majority my memories bring me back to my childhood at her home on Harding Ave. I loved sleeping over my grandmother’s house. I cherish so many memories of the shed she transformed into a schoolhouse for my sisters and me. I remember listening to Oldies in her backyard and swimming in her pool, while listening for the sound of the ice cream man. Before the sun was up, Nana was already in the kitchen filling up Eric’s breakfast bowl and making a stack of buttered toast to set on the table. She would make enough American Chop Suey to feed the neighborhood kids. At night you could find Nana listening to Delilah on her Walkman radio. I enjoyed watching Judge Judy with Nana as well as the entire OJ Simpson trial. I look back and I am grateful that I was the only grandchild that got to travel with my grandmother to California during the trial and smile when I recall Nana tearing down pieces of the police banner marking off a crime scene and picking flowers to bring home as a souvenir. That was my Nana! That trip is so special to me because it was just Nana and me. Then there was the road trip to Florida I took with my grandmother in a rental van with the Gorhams when I would torture poor Matty Boy with my Celine Dion cd. Looking back, I am so so grateful for all the time I got to spend with her in my life. She was the first family member I called when I was pregnant with my oldest, Kayley. As a matter of fact, she was in the delivery room for her birth and even cut her umbilical cord. Only Nana could crochet an entire baby blanket while someone was in labor and have it finished before their baby’s arrival and Nana did just that! Nana always reminded me that, “God will never give you more than you can handle.” While life without Nana will never be the same, rest assured everyone, Nana is finally at peace crocheting poolside at the Sands Motel, her most favorite place in the world. Next time, you visit York Beach, grab yourself a piece of penuche and know Nana is smiling down on you and will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. I love and miss you Nana. There will never be anyone quite like you.

Maureen, Your creativity and endless talents will “FOREVER LIVE “ in all whom were fortunate enough to have known you.YOU were a great TEACHER whom never gave up until the person mastered the craft or idea at hand. You probally didn’t even realize , that all the time that you took to care, left myself and so many others with a greater sense of accomplishment and sense of value for themselves. Money and “things meant nothing to you. Friendships, sharing and doing things for others is what truly made you happy. I will miss your sense of humor. I will miss playing scrabble. I WILL MISS YOU! Forever in my heart and prayers 🙏🏻Love you ❤️ Nancy
