Annual Coat Drive Underway: Your Gently Used Coats Will Provide Warmth to Those in Need This Winter!

October 1, 2016

With your help, we have provided over 1,000 gently used coats to those in need! Help us continue the tradition to provide warmth to the needy in our community with our fifth annual coat drive, happening now through the end of November.

11514418 - winter jacket collection When the winter winds begin to blow and snow and ice blanket our community, most of us simply put on our warm coats to protect us against the cold, winter temperatures. But many on the South Shore are not so lucky. Please consider donating gently used fall and winter coats to our Quincy, Hingham and South Weymouth locations through the end of November.

The donated coats will be professionally cleaned and then they will be distributed to those in need through the Wellspring Multi-Service Center in Hull, Interfaith Social Services in Quincy, and Weymouth Youth and Family Services in Weymouth.

It’s a great opportunity to clean out your closet and help others in need at the same time! So take a look – you may have gently worn coats in your closets that are outgrown or no longer needed that will be appreciated by those less fortunate.

Each year we are amazed by the generosity of those in our community who help us make our Coat Drive such a huge success. Watching our community bringing in their gently used coats during such a busy time reminds us of the true spirit of giving during the holiday season.

Our annual Coat Drive started back in 2012, and we were amazed to exceed our goal of collecting 250 coats during our first-ever drive. Because of the remarkable success of the event, we began collecting coats each fall in order to have the coats ready for the winter season. “This is the fifth year we have been doing the drive, and we have already collected well over 1,000 coats for the needy,” said Co-President John Keohane . “We are so proud to have partnered with all of you in our community to provide the recipients of these donations with a warm coat or jacket when it is needed the most.”

Please bring your donations to these Keohane locations:

Keohane Funeral Home at 785 Hancock Street in Quincy

McDonald Keohane Funeral Home at 809 Main Street in South Weymouth

Pyne Keohane Funeral Home at 21 Emerald Street in Hingham
