Plant.Grow.Share. An Opportunity to Share Your Fresh Produce
August 1, 2023The 2023 Plant.Grow.Share. program has been working diligently to provide fresh food for local food pantries in the South Shore area, With our spring workshop s and donation of vegetable seedlings, we are proud to make it possible for ocal home gardeners and others to assist citizens in need. We hope you have had success with your free seedlings and have enough produce to share! This impactful program is a friendly collaboration between Keohane Funeral Homes, the Weymouth Food Pantry, Interfaith Social Services in Quincy, and you!

We could not provide this great service without the generous help of our community. Whether you like to grow food or not, there are ways you can assist those in need. If you live in Weymouth, Quincy, Hingham, or other Massachusetts villages, here are a few ways you can help remedy food insecurity through Plant.Grow.Share.
Donate Produce to South Shore Food Pantries
Garden Fresh Vegetables
If you or your neighbors enjoygardening and have a surplus of produce, we would be honored if you would share it with our food pantry partners. Unlike traditional food pantries that offer canned and boxed foods, our vision for reducing hunger includes fresh, healthy food for individuals and families who have difficulty affording fresh vegetables.
Store Bought Produce
“But, I don’t have a garden,” you might say. That’s not a problem. You’re also welcome to donate quality, store-bought produce. Track local grocery sales, buy extra vegetables and fruits, and drop some off for Plant.Grow.Share. on your way home. Or, stop by a South Shore area farmers’ market and choose fresh produce to donate.
Financial Donations
If your thumb isn’t near any shade of green, or if you are at a stage in your life when taking time to garden or shop is difficult, you can contribute any monetary donation. Every small and big gift goes to helping provide fresh food for our community! Even $5 can help! Donations to the Plant.Grow.Share. program can be made online at interfaithsocialservices.org/donate.
Food Pantry Locations and Times
Smaller donations of 20 bags or fewer can be dropped off at any of the Weymouth Food Pantry pop-up sites during distribution hours. Check out their food donation page for a complete list. Donations of all sizes are welcome between 10am and 1pm Tuesday through Friday at their food warehouse at 40 Reservoir Park Drive, Unit B, in Rockland, MA. Donations from your garden or supermarket for Interfaith Social Services can be dropped off at 105 Adams Street in Quincy from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, and until 7 p.m. on Tuesdays.

No donation is too small. Recipients of your produce donations have been very vocal about how much this gift of fresh food means to them. Many would like to grow their own gardens but do not have the space or resources to make it happen. When you take time to gather your veggies and fruits to donate, your gift of fresh food helps many people.
